Elba M. Hebbeln, 99, of West Bend, Wisconsin, and formerly of
Bettendorf, Iowa, died Saturday, October 21, 2006 in West Bend.
Gravesite services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, October 28,
2006 at Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport. Iowa. Those wishing to
attend the service should meet at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home by
1:15 P.M. on Saturday. Memorials may be made to Bettendorf
Presbyterian Church.
Elba was born July 1, 1907 in Albany, Illinois, the
daughter of James & Margaret (McDaniel) Montgomery. She was united
in marriage to Elmer Hebbeln on September 2, 1933 in Davenport. He
preceded her in death in 1962.
Elba was employed as a secretary for the Stafne & Lewis
law firm in Bettendorf. She retired in 1972. Her parents were founders of the Presbyterian Church where Elba remained active during the years she resided in Bettendorf. She was an excellent bridge player who enjoyed reading, and keeping up with current events.
Elba resided in Bettendorf until 2000 when she moved to West Bend,
Wisconsin to be with family. She was known for her kind heart and
independent spirit. She will be missed and loved for her great
character and the courage she displayed in living her life.
Those left to honor her memory include her sister-in-law, Eloise
Montgomery, of Durham, North Carolina; her niece, Jene Goshaw
(Alfred)of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and her children, David
Goshaw of Chapel Hill, North Carolina and Christina (David) Hinkle, of
hapel Hill, and their children, Annabelle, Katie, and Calvin; her
niece, Diane Montgomery of West Bend, Wisconsin, and her children,
Eric(Mindy) Fryklund, of West Bend, Wisconsin and Sonya Fryklund of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, her niece Marilyn Pitzner’s ,whom had >preceded her in death, children, Jim(Sara) Pitzner of Maple Grove,
Minnesota, and their children, Drew and Cole, Julie (Dana) Mattson,
and their children Alexa and Heather, and Elizabeth Hilton.
In addition to her husband, Elmer, she was preceded in
death by her brother, James Montgomery, and her niece, Marilyn
Pitzner.
