Elda M. Ewoldt, 82, formerly of Eldridge, passed away January 23, 2017 in Easley, South Carolina.
Funeral services celebrating Elda’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday February 4, 2017 at Faith Lutheran Church in Eldridge. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 3rd from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the church. Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, 500 W. LeClaire Rd., Eldridge, Iowa. Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on March 29, 1934 in Eldridge, Elda was the daughter of Frank D. and Roma C (Matzen) Ewoldt.
Elda graduated from Davenport High School in 1952 and Cornell College, Mt Vernon, Iowa in 1956, including study at American University in Washington, DC. She worked for over 26 years at Radio Station KSTT and 97X as Program Director. She also worked at WOC Radio and WKBF Power 98.9. Most recently she was in property management. She was a Charter member of Faith Lutheran Church, Eldridge and was in their first Confirmation Class. She served many offices of the church including President of the Church’s Woman’s Group and State Lutheran and Ecumenical Committees. She belonged to Davenport Business and Professional Women, active Member of the Democratic Party, serving as officers for many campaigns in Scott County. She was honored by President Jimmy Carter with lunch at the White House. Elda was a lifelong resident of the Quad Cities Area, very recently staying in South Carolina.
She is survived by her sisters, Anne M. Paschall of Roswell, New Mexico and Sandra E. (Dale) Hamann of Greenville, South Carolina; nieces, Julia A. Ponder, Malinda C. Hamann, Lara H. Wannemacher; nephews, Jeffry A. and Joel E. Jackson. She adored her numerous great nieces and nephews, cousins and their families.
Elda was preceded in death by her parents; cousins, Lois Alpen and Wayne Matzen; Brother-in-law, Harrell Paschall; nephews, Lance Jackson and Bill Lee.
The family would like to thank Faye and Leonard Finck, Malinda Hamann, Joel Jackson, Geralean McLaughlin for their help through hospitalizations and their many visits and assistance.
