Services for Eldon H. Holst, 83, of LeClaire, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 21st at Chambers Funeral Home, Eldridge, with Dr. Arnold Conrad officiating. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery, LeClaire.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, June 20, at Chambers Funeral Home, Eldridge. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the funeral.
Mr. Holst died Friday, June 18, 2004, at Trinity Hospital, Bettendorf.
Eldon Holst was born July 8, 1920, in LeClaire, the son of James and Minnie (Lippold) Holst. He married Ethel Moffit on October 14, 1943. He was a member of Our Savior Presbyterian Church.
The couple farmed in LeClaire Township. He attended a LeClaire rural school. He was a LeClaire boys’ 4-H leader for 14 years. He was a feed and seed dealer. He enjoyed his farming years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a Mississippi Valley Fair lasting tribute.
Survivors include his wife Ethel and children: sons; Alan and wife Laurie, Connecticut, Dennis and Jody, Wisconsin, Dean and Marilyn, LeClaire, and daughter, Darlene and husband David Link, Davenport. Grandchildren are: Kate Holst Grimm, Sarah Holst, Nathan Holst, Brian, Greg, Paul, and Carolyn Holst, Joanna and Jeanine Link. Great-grandchildren are William and Elly Holst, and Christian Holst. He is also survived by his brother Alvin Holst.
He was preceded in death by parents and sisters: Velma Spies and Irene Bowker and his brother Donald Holst.
