Elisabeth Walden

Elisabeth M. Walden, 90, of Bettendorf passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Private family graveside services will be held at the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to Our Savior Lutheran Church, Bettendorf.  McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Elisabeth was born on September 29, 1929 in Freiberg, Germany, the daughter of Herbert and Elisabeth (Fiedler) Kretschmer.  On April 3, 1952 she married Jay H. Walden Jr. in Erding, Germany. Elisabeth was a devoted military wife and mother. While her husband served in the U.S. Air Force, they traveled all over the world.  She was a former member of St. James Lutheran Church and most recently a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church.

Those left to honor her memory are her daughter, Monika (Jim Fox) Leonard-Park of De Queen, Arkansas; son, James (Shawn) Walden of Bettendorf; grandchildren, Aaron (Kristina) Leonard and Trenten Walden; great-grandchildren, Katie and Liam Leonard; step-grandchildren, Ethan (Jessica) Paaske, Allyson Paaske; and step-great-grandson, Chance Paaske.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, and two brothers, Heinz and Gunter Kretschmer.
