Elizabeth Rose Freund, 94, a resident of Eldridge, formerly of Davenport, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at the Kahl Home in Davenport.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Davenport. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 2:45 p.m. followed by a visitation from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 18th at Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge. Memorials may be made to the Scott County Humane Society.
Born on March 4, 1921 in Davenport, Betty was the daughter of Peter and Catherine (Harmon) Fries. On August 14, 1940 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Davenport, she married Richard G. Freund. He preceded her in death on November 30, 1987.
Betty was a homemaker and helped her husband on the family farm. She was involved in many card clubs and enjoyed embroidery. Betty was an excellent baker. Betty enjoyed a full life cherishing her time she spent with her family. She had a special love for animals and a special love for all people.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Julie (Joe) Grant of Eldridge and Kathryn (Steve) Murrens of Davenport; sons, Kenneth (Sharon) Freund of Park View, Robert (Wendy) Freund of Spring, Texas and Michael Freund of Davenport; 15 grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Richard Freund, Jr.; five sisters; two brothers; and a daughter-in-law, Marsha.
Betty’s family would like to thank Michelle and the entire staff at Grand Haven for their wonderful care given to her during her stay.
