Elizabeth Esther Palmgren, 80, of Davenport, Iowa, died suddenly on Friday, February 29, 2008 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the family.
Esther was born August 9, 1927 in Ollie, Iowa, the daughter of Burt & Cora Ingle. She was united in marriage to Raymond Wallerich in Fairfield, Iowa in 1944. She was later united to marriage to Paul Palmgren on May 3, 1968 in Springfield, Illinois.
Esther had been employed at Wonder Bread in Davenport in earlier years, but she had primarily been a homemaker throughout her life. She enjoyed the company of her family, particularly her grandchildren and her cats. She also enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels in her yard.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Paul; her daughter, Candy (Larry) Smeltzer, of Davenport; her sons, Nicholas Wallerich, of Calamus, Iowa, Kenneth (Cheri) Wallerich, of Lowden, Iowa and Paul (Stephanie) Palmgren, of Burnsville, Minnesota; her grandchildren, Shane Smeltzer, Ken Hutt and Brynn Palmgren; her sister, Annis McConnell, of Bettendorf; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Esther was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond; her parents; and her sisters, Lena Pierce and Emma Mae Wallerich.
