Ellen Delores Carter, age 59, of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at Trinity Bettendorf.
She was born August 28, 1953 in Tyler, Texas, to Garvin and Ruby (Nell) Weaver. She married William “Bill” Carter on August 20, 1971 in Lakeside, California. After moving to Bettendorf in 1972, Ellen worked a variety of jobs which included helping her mom with their store in the village of East Davenport and at the Waterfront Deli. She loved to listen to Dean Martin and “real” country music, from when it was both country and western. Ellen’s greatest joys, however, were her grandchildren and her dogs.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Bill, of Bettendorf, sons Donald, David, and Daniel, all of Bettendorf, grandchildren Brendan and Alyssa of Dixon, Illinois, Kathryn and Tayler of Davenport, sisters Marilyn Schaffer and Sandy Barnett of Waco, Texas, sister in law Donna Ricker of Eldridge, many cousins, nieces and nephews, and her five dogs, Timber, Shelby, Frank, Tippy, and Moose. She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Trinity Bettendorf for their attentiveness and loving care.
Per Ellen’s wishes, there will be no service. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Scott County.
