Ellen M. Stafford, 75, of Davenport, died Thursday, October 24, 2013 at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Monday, October 28, 2013 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the family.
Ellen was born April 20, 1938, in Ongo, Missouri, the daughter of Ellis T. & Bertha A. (Nelson) Lafferty. She was united in marriage to Royal L. Stafford on December 18, 1954 in Springfield, Missouri. He preceded her in death on August 17, 1999.
Ellen enjoyed knitting, sewing and playing her organ. She was a member of New Life Baptist Church in Davenport. She especially loved her time spent with her grandchildren.
Those left to honor her memory include her sons, Gary (Peggy) Stafford of Rockmart, Georgia, Ron (Sherri) Stafford of Davenport, Doyle (Sheri) Stafford of Lacon, Illinois and Kenneth (Marlana)Stafford of Davenport; her daughters, Angie (Sam) Clark of Davenport and Joanna Horton of Davenport; her grandchildren, Amy Stafford, Bryan Stafford, Renea Clark, Bridget Clark, Michael Stafford, Kimberly Stafford, Matthew Stafford, Sam Clark, Noah Horton and Molly Horton; thirteen great-grandchildren; her sisters, Ethel Mae (Bob) Johnson of Brighton, Missouri and Ruby (Larry) LeJeune of Louisiana; and her brother, Joe (Clarie) Lafferty of Springfield.
In addition to her husband, Royal, she was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Irene, LoDene, Melvin, Ruth and Melvis.
