Eloise A. “Elly” Bullock, 92, a life-long resident of Scott County, Iowa, died Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport, Iowa.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, Iowa. There will be a memorial gathering from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the services on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery in Buffalo at a later date. Eloise was born November 19, 1921 in Buffalo, Iowa, the daughter of Carl & Lillie (Christensen) Rauch. Her family had settled in Buffalo in 1855 and she was a 1939 graduate of Buffalo High School.
She was united in marriage to Harry G. Bullock in Davenport on January 3, 1953. He preceded her in death on March 5, 1984.
Elly led an active life and was always willing to lend a generous hand. She was a member of the Cauldron and the Turner’s Club and had volunteered with the Mohassan Grotto. She enjoyed bowling on leagues at 30 Lanes in Davenport until the age of 90.
She will be remembered as an accomplished knitter and a fabulous cook and baker. She had also loved to travel, particularly to the beaches of the Outer Banks.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter and son-in-law, Lynnea & W.L. “Bugs” Dickinson of Davenport; her step-daughter, Patricia Kirkpatrick of Osage Beach, Missouri; her grandson, Christopher Ware of Davenport; her step-grandchildren, Jay (Lori) Kirkpatrick of Osage Beach, Scott (Crystal) Bowman of Davenport, Schuyler (Angie) Bowman of Davenport, Joan (Gerald) Spies of Wheatland, Iowa, Joy (Tom) Semsch of Durant, Iowa, Seth (Anita) Stockman of DeWitt, Iowa, Darrin (Terry) Barron of Thayer, Kansas and Darcie Cruz of Chanute, Kansas; twelve step-great-grandchildren; four step-great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Mary Lemm of Gainesville, Georgia; her brother, Carl Rauch of Davenport; a special nephew, Jeff (Carrie) Lemm; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband, Harry, Elly was preceded in death by her step-daughter, Charlotte Stockman; her brothers, Richard, Louis and Chester; and her life-long friend, Grace Woodard.
