Eloise Jones

Eloise Margaret Jones, 72, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Monday, August 29, 2011 at the home of her son in Davenport after an extended illness.

Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, September 2, 2011 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf. She will be laid to rest at Oakdale Cemetery in Davenport. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Children’s Therapy Network or to Genesis VNA Hospice.

She was born July 7, 1939 in Davenport, the daughter of Willard Ellis & Virginia Louisa (Schultz) Peters. On July 28, 1956, she was united in marriage to Charles Jones in Holly Springs, Mississippi. He preceded her in death on July 21, 1999.

Eloise was a devoted wife, mom & homemaker. She worked as a registered CNA at the Iowa Masonic Health Facility in Bettendorf for 6 years and in earlier years, was employed as a retail clerk for the former Parker’s Value Mart and Mother Hubbards, both of Bettendorf.

She was a die-hard Cub fan, enjoyed going to the gambling boats and loved to go camping with her beloved family.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Vickie Stahl of Thomasville, North Carolina; her sons, Charles M. (June) Jones and William J. Jones, both of Davenport; her grandchildren, Angie, Corey, Joshua, Abigail, Elliott, Preston, Charlene, Matthew & Nicole; her great-grandchildren Savanna, Kara, Ashlynn & Brett; her sisters, Elsie (Paul) Dodson of Davenport, Estella McFadden of Davenport and Judith Magnuson of Carleton, Michigan; her brother, Fred (Judith) Peters of Quincy, Illinois; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and wonderful friends.

In addition to her husband, Eloise was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Louise Fanning; her son, Randel J. Jones; her grandson, Eric Keith Jones; her sister, Sharon Hildebrandt; and three brothers-in-law.
