Elsie Marie Jackson, 73, a resident of LeClaire, Iowa died on Saturday, July 15, 2006 at Trinity Pathway Hospice at Terrace Park, Bettendorf, Iowa.
Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
She was born November 16, 1932 in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Fred & Esta May (Burnett) Heskett. On July 15, 1950, she was united in marriage to Charles I. Jackson III in Davenport, Iowa.
Elsie & her husband owned & operated Jackson’s Drive-In Restaurant in Pleasant Valley for many years. In earlier years, they operated Jackson’s Catering & Concessions, operated the concession stand at the Scott County Park swimming pool and the Jackson Popcorn Stand in LeClaire. She had also worked at Alcoa many years ago.
She was a member of the Silver Creek Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star of LeClaire.
Elsie enjoyed doing crafts and attending craft shows. She took special pride in her yard, garden & flowers and an enjoyable afternoon for her was mowing the grass and working in the yard. Every Wednesday, she looked forward to bowling with her family & friends, followed by a game of bingo and lunch.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Charles; her daughter, Sherrill (Kurt) Hansen of Blue Grass, Iowa; her son, Charles (Marcella) Jackson IV of Oronogo, Missouri; her grandchildren, Dawn (Konrad) Kraklio, C.J. Jackson, Nick Hansen, Ben Hansen & Luke Hansen; her great-grandsons, Chase & Chance and another expected very soon; her sister, Doris Denny of Bettendorf; and her brother, Frederick (Milly) Heskett of Davenport; and three additional sisters.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Alice Isenhower; and by her parents.
