Elwin L. Pendleton, 80, a resident of LeClaire, Iowa passed away on Friday, May 28, 2004 at his home under the care of Genesis Hospice and surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 1, 2004 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf, Iowa. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery, LeClaire where military honors will be conducted. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice or to the music ministry of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Davenport, Iowa where he was a member.
Elwin was employed at the Alcoa Company, Davenport Works for 37 years, retiring in 1986.
During World War II, he served with the U.S. Army 1972nd Service Command in Rhineland. Upon his honorable discharge in 1946, he received the Good Conduct Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Medal.
His family was the greatest joy in his life and he also loved gardening, fishing and being a faithful member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 58 years, Glenna; his daughter & son-in-law, Connie & Jim Morgan of Pleasant Valley, Iowa; his sons & daughter-in-law, Gary & Faye Pendleton of Savannah, Georgia and Loren Pendleton of DeWitt, Iowa; his grandchildren, Lisa, Cory & Troy Pendleton, Kim Bishop, Karol Cornic and Jerry Pendleton; his step-grandchildren, Wayne & Courtney Morgan; his great-grandchildren, Dylan & Malayna Pendleton, Dustyn & Dakota Porter, Kolby Bishop, Audreyanna & Hanna Cornic, Jerry Pendleton Jr. and Melanie Pendleton; and his sister, Dorothy Pidcock of Linwood, Michigan.
Elwin was preceded in death by his sister, Helen.
