Emilie L. Fries

Emilie L. Fries, 86, of Davenport, died Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at Daveport Lutheran Home.
Funeral services will be 11:30 A.M., Friday, August 18, 2006 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the family.
Emilie was born September 27, 1919 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She moved to the United States in 1958. She was united in marriage to Harold Fries in Davenport in 1969. He preceded her in death in January of 1990.
Emilie and Harold owned and operated the former Fries Service Garage in Davenport before retiring in 1973.
She had enjoyed knitting, reading, and gardening.
Those left to honor her memory include her son, Robert Smith, and his girlfriend, Dorla Hanssen, both of Davenport; her grandchildren, Cori Smith of Rock Island, Illinois, and Erin Rice, and her husband, Nicholas, of Davenport; her great-grandchildren, Andrew and Lydia Rice, both of Davenport; her brother, Alfred Lutz, of Winnipeg; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Harold, he was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother Henry.
