Ernest Lee “Butch” Mangels Sr., 68, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died on Friday, June 13, 2014 at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
He was born in Waverly, Iowa on March 31, 1946, the son of Ernie & Lorna (Levers) Mangels. On June 20, 1970, he was united in marriage to Cassie M. Pruden in Davenport.
Butch was a long-distance truck driver for many years, most of which were with Hummer Trucking. He retired in 2013 after 19 years on the road.
During his spare time, he enjoyed camping with his family, fishing, playing computer games, bowling, caring for his garden and most of all, his beloved family, especially his grandchildren.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Cassie; his sons, Ernest Lee Mangels Jr. of Walcott, Iowa & his fiancé, Stephanie and Eric L. (Christina) Mangels of Davenport; his grandchildren, Devery, Lillianne, Landon & Emily; and his sister, Mary Mangels of Davenport.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Ellery Mangels; and by his parents.
