Ernest "Ernie" F. Paustian

Ernest “Ernie” F. Paustian, 88, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Saturday, December 8, 2007 at Trinity at Terrace Park, Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M. Saturday, December 15, 2007 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 9:30 until the time of service Saturday. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Kidney and Urology Foundation of America.
Ernie was born in Davenport on July 28, 1919 the son of Ernest H. & Mary (Meincke) Paustian. He was united in marriage to Margaret Stevens in 1940. He was later married to Lois Elaine Matzen in 1968 and was with her till she passed away in 2001.
Ernie worked for most of his life as a printer in the Quad Cites, first at the Times Democrat and later the Bettendorf News.
Ernie was a very sociable person whom everyone loved. He was full of life, loved people and always looked on the bright side. He enjoyed the times he spent with his friends at Sport Fans. He enjoyed all the friendships he made with all the doctors, nurses and staff at Genesis and Trinity Hospitals and Clinics. He loved to flirt with all the nurses and they loved to flirt back. He resided at Palmer Hills Retirement Residence and is leaving many friends behind. Everyone there enjoyed his Super Bowl and World Series pools he created. He was a loyal fan of the Quad City Swing/River Bandits. Ernie was a proud life long resident of Bettendorf. He loved woodworking and making crafts which he would give away. He had the ability to turn some of the bleakest moments into a light-hearted, laughable event. Many times he would orchestrate and perpetuate laughing jags lasting thirty minutes or more with his family, reducing everyone to tears merely by his contagious chortle.
Those left to honor his memory include his sons, Don (Sandy) Paustian of Davenport and Terry (Kim) Paustian of Taylor Ridge, Illinois; his grandchildren, Tony (Denise) Paustian, Sue (Robin) Pickett, Mike (Kim) Paustian, T.J. (Jenny) Paustian, Jamie ( Scott) Scogland and Zachary Paustian; his great-grandchildren, Steffen, Alexandra, Maggie, Annie, Luke, Isaiah, Anna, Grace, Jacob, Hannah, Abbi, Presley, Calvin, and his nieces, Sandra Albers and Judy Bearbower.
In addition to his wife, Elaine he was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Ann Mattasch and his nephew, Herb Mattasch.
