Ernestine W. Finnegan, 82, a resident of Camanche, IA, formerly of Princeton, died Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center in Clinton.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 12 Noon on Monday, March 10, 2014 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services on Monday. Memorials may be made to Camp Courageous in Monticello, IA.
Born on July 21, 1931 in LeClaire, Ernestine was the daughter of Merritt and Alvena (Holst) Kitchen. On November 25, 1950 in Galesburg, she married LeRoy Finnegan.
Ernestine worked as a library aide for the North Scott School District at Edward White Elementary School in Eldridge. She later worked in the Scott County Clerk of Court’s office until her retirement in 1984.
Ernestine was a member of the Silver Creek Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star where she served as past matron. She was also a member of the Pyramid Temple #10 Nile where she served as Queen. Ernestine enjoyed camping, traveling, sewing and quilting. She was a member of North Ridge Community Church in Eldridge. Ernestine cherished her time spent with family.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, LeRoy; daughter, Kathy Marie Finnegan of Camanche; sons, Denny Merritt (Kristen) Finnegan of Metamora, IL and Michael Lee Finnegan of Davenport; eight grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; brothers, Eldon Kitchen and Eallen (Louise) Kitchen, both of LeClaire.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
