Eugene Ralph Kraus, 68, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at his home.
Private family services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Beacon of Hope Hospice, Davenport or Genesis Cancer Care Institute, Davenport.
Eugene was born September 1, 1943 in Independence, Iowa the son of Ralph and Margaret (Kremer) Kraus. He received his Bachelor of Arts and his Masters of Education and Counseling from Loras College, Dubuque, Iowa. He and his wife Rachel were married at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Bettendorf, Iowa on March 2, 1973.
Eugene worked as a teacher and later worked as a real estate broker.
He enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes, spending time with his grandkids, dancing and playing tennis.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Rachel; his daughters Charlotte Kraus, Nicole (Jason) McKirahan and Emily (Joshua) Harrington; his son, Nathan Kraus; his grandchildren Aidan, Avery, Marley and Hadley; his mother, Margaret Kraus; his sisters Janet Sivertsen, Joyce (Robert) Mellish and Marlene (Steve) Vinar and his brothers James Kraus, Duane (Julie) Kraus and Ralph (Karla) Kraus Jr.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Kraus.
