Eugene W. “Jerry” Schoeberl D.D.S., Emeritus FAGD, FADI started his new adventure into the unknown on Saturday, August 22, 2009. He passed away at Trinity Pathway Hospice in Bettendorf.
Celebration of Life services will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Give Kids A Smile, a children’s dental access program through the American Dental Association
Jerry was born February 7, 1925 in Milbank, South Dakota, the son of Joseph and Grace (Roggenbuck) Schoeberl. He had practiced dentistry for over sixty years and had participated in the design and implication of dental equipment.
After graduating from the University Of Iowa College Of Dentistry in 1947, he began his practice in Maquoketa, Iowa. During the Korean Conflict, he served in the United States Navy at the Great Lake Naval Base in North Chicago, Illinois. In 1953, he returned to the Quad-Cities to set up his dental practice in Bettendorf.
Jerry was united in marriage to Mary Jean Sutton and together they raised two children, Mark Schoeberl of Silver Spring, Maryland and Mary Kay (Paul) Matthys of Nashville, Tennessee.
Jerry was later united in marriage to Camille (Kim) Beckenbaugh Knapper on January 14, 1983.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Kim; his children, Mark and Mary Kay; his grandchildren, Laura, Paul and Rachel; his stepson, Elmer Knapper, III; his step-grandchildren, Matthew Misroch and Ireland Knapper; his great-grandchildren Aiden, Anna and Julian; and his sister, Gretchen Helkamp.
