Eulalia L. Merrell, 89, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at the Bettendorf Healthcare Center.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf. She will be laid to rest at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Eulalia was born in Baxter County, Arkansas on September 13, 1924, the daughter of George and Rena (Marler) Stafford. She was united in marriage to Talmage W. “Tom” Merrell in Arkansas. He preceded her in death on December 1, 1989.
In earlier years, Eulalia was employed in the Housekeeping Department of the former St. Luke’s Hospital in Davenport.
Among the things she enjoyed were her active life in church, her faith in God and her many friends.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Carol Houston of Bettendorf; her son, Larry Merrell of Bettendorf; five grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and wonderful friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sons, Jerry, Ray and Eugene; and several sisters and brothers.
