Evelyn T. Coon

Evelyn T. Coon, 82, of Davenport, Iowa, died Tuesday, September 27, 2005 at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Thursday, September 29, 2005 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday (today) at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the family.
Evelyn was born August 10, 1923 in Houston County, Georgia, the daughter of Joseph & Irene (Cummings) Hunnicutt. She was united in marriage to Russell L. Coon in Augusta, Georgia on May 18, 1943. He preceded her in death on July 2, 1989.
Evelyn was retired from the former Iowa Motel in Davenport in 1985 after 21 years of employment. She had also worked for 10 years at the former Colorado Café in Davenport. Her family was the most important aspect of her life, and she will be remembered as a very loving person.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter and son-in-law, Rhody & Ron Baker, of East Moline, Illinois; her sons and daughters-in-law, Joe & Carol Turner, of Davenport, David & Diane Coon, of Rock Island, Illinois, Carl & Connie Coon of Davenport, and Doug & Betty Coon, of Davenport; 26 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and her son in-law, John Staggs.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Pam Staggs; and four grandchildren.
