Everette J. Dodd, 77, of Davenport, Iowa, died Friday, May 8, 2009 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at Westside Assembly of God Church in Davenport. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Monday at the church. Burial will be in Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport. Memorials may be made to Genesis VNA Hospice, Westside Assembly of God Church or to the family.
Everette was born March 26, 1932 in Hannibal, Missouri, the son of Everett & Edith (Green) Dodd. During the Korean Conflict, he served in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Juanita Allensworth on October 30, 1954 in Hull, Illinois. She preceded him in death on September 5, 1976. He was later united in marriage to Jacqueline Abramson on July 15, 1983 in Eldridge, Iowa.
Everette owned and operated Everett’s Body Shop in Davenport for 52 years. He was a member of the Big 6 River Bend Studebaker Drivers Club and the Good Sam Motor Home Club. He enjoyed traveling, camping, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Jacqueline; his daughters, Debbie (Bob) Mendoza, of Davenport, Laurie Sanford, of Waterloo, Iowa and Merri (Chris) Camacho of Lilburn, Georgia; his sons, David (Janice) Dodd, of Lawrenceville, Georgia and Darryl (Andrea) Dodd, of Tiffin, Iowa; his step-sons, David (Marya) Smith, of Hudson, Wisconsin, Larry Smith, of Orlando, Florida and Ronnie (Gwen) Smith, of Davenport; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren; 14 step-great-grandchildren; his sisters, Rosie (Carl) Nelson, of Hannibal, Sandra (Rick) Harwood, of St. Louis, Missouri; his brothers, Clifford (Nancy) Dodd, of Davenport and Charles (Margaret) Dodd, of Hannibal; his sister-in-law, Donna (Dean) Sparrow, of Hampton, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his first wife, Juanita, Everett was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Imogene Lawber, Margaretta Dodd and Florence Riley; and his brothers, Clarence Dodd and LeRoy Dodd.
