Flora D. Heber

Flora D. Heber, 101, a resident of Davenport Lutheran Home, died Thursday, January 11, 2007 at the home.
Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Davenport Lutheran Home. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Flora was born January 3, 1906 on a farm on the prairie of Ansley, Nebraska, the daughter of Edgar E. & Nancy B. (Baker) Waite. She was the second youngest of five brothers and four sisters.
She attended the University of Nebraska where she met her husband, Harry H. Brown. Flora then taught for 2 ½ years in a two-room schoolhouse. She married Harry on June 8, 1929 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He preceded her in death in November 1959. She later married George Heber on July 11, 1965 in East Moline, Illinois. He preceded her in death in June 1978.
Flora was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She held many family gatherings where her great cooking was always enjoyed.
In earlier years, Flora was an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Bettendorf. She loved to spend time with her many friends, and she also loved to travel. In her 80’s, Flora and her sister, Dora, traveled to Europe and enjoyed every minute of the trip.
Those left to honor her memory include her sons and daughters-in-law, Don & Mary June Brown, Douglas & Edith Brown, and Dennis & Phyllis Brown, all of Bettendorf; 10 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Flora was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Harry and George; and her brothers and sisters.
She will be greatly missed by all; she had a good and fulfilling life.
