Florence “Vicki” Carroll, 93, of Bettendorf, died Sunday, August 5, 2012 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. Memorials may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church or the Bettendorf Lions Club. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
Vicki was born on June 16, 1919, the daughter of Arthur Melvin and Ida (Gulbro) Bersie. She married James Bandy in 1945. He preceded her in death in 1961. Vicki later married John B. Carroll in 1966. He preceded her in death on April 15, 1999.
Vicki worked as a secretary in the administrative offices of the Bettendorf School System and as a director and secretary for Dentist Laboratory Association in Moline. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bettendorf. Vicki was an avid bridge player and was a 500 Club member. Vicki bowled in 31 national bowling tournaments and served as the secretary for Mombowls Bowling League. Vicki was a former director of Davenport/Bettendorf Bowling League.
Those left to honor her memory include two daughters, Sharon (Tom) Brooks of Bettendorf and Beverly Anderson of Sun City, CA; one son, Robert (Dr. Natalia Savchenko) Bandy of El Paso, TX; 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathleen Ezelle; one sister, Arlyn Barrango; one brother, Vernon Bersie.
