Florence Doty

Florence A. Doty, 103, of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Jersey Ridge Place in Davenport, Iowa.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at St. James Lutheran Church in Bettendorf where she was a member.  Per her request, her body was donated to the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.  Inurnment will take place at a later date in Rock Island National Cemetery.  Contributions in her memory may be made to the Scott County Humane Society.

Florence was born February 27, 1914 in Madison, Wisconsin, the daughter of Jacob & Anna Marie (Johnson) Simpa.  She was united in marriage to Lewis E. Doty in Madison in 1937.  He preceded her in death in 1992.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia ‘Ann’ Doty & Charles ‘John’ Shockley of Madrid, Iowa; and her nieces, Sharon Gallagher, Pamela Gallagher and Kathy Hilmer.

In addition to her husband, Florence was preceded in death by her son, Robert L. Doty in 1981; and her sisters, Josephine Cady and Ann Gallagher.
