Florence P. Jones, 99, of Davenport, died Saturday, May 13, 2017 at the Davenport Lutheran Home.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Genesis VNA Hospice, the Shriners Hospitals for Children or to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Davenport.
Florence was born December 5, 1917; a daughter of John & Mary (Taylor) Levsen in what was formerly Rockingham Township in Davenport. She was united in marriage to Harold D. “Bud” Jones in Galena, Illinois on August 24, 1935. He preceded her in death on May 20, 1997 after 62 years of marriage.
Florence had been Administrator of the Iowa Masonic Health Facility in Bettendorf from 1973 to 1976. An avid Cubs fan, she vowed to live long enough to see the Cubs win the World Series.
Those left to honor her memory include her son, Harold “Bud” & Sheila Jones of Eldridge; her daughters, Marg Zellmer of Davenport and Jan & Don Stewart of Long Grove; seven grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Florence was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter; one sister and seven brothers.
