Floyd David “Red” Hahn, 86, a resident of Hampton, IL, formerly of Bettendorf, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 8, 2015.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, January 12 th from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Floyd David Hahn Memorial Fund.
Born on December 17, 1928 in Muscatine, David was the son of Floyd Maynard and Lois Edna (Fordham) Hahn. On March 17, 1951 in Davenport, David married Frances Almedia Brockhage. She preceded him in death on January 21, 2008.
David served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was employed at Sivyer Steel in Bettendorf for 43 years where he held numerous positions and lastly worked as a heat treat furnace operator. David enjoyed singing, playing his guitar and entertaining. He and his brothers had a band, “The Memory Makers” and played for various nursing homes and the Handicapped Development Center. He also enjoyed word puzzles and was very active out in his yard. David and Frances were members of many camping clubs, enjoying many winters in Texas. He enjoyed attending First Assembly of God in Bettendorf. David cherished his time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those left to honor his memory include his children, Brenda Lea (Herb) Hoke of Bettendorf, Karen Kay (Ted Laake) Carsell-Laake of Davenport, Gary David Hahn and Kelvin Floyd Hahn, both of Davenport; nine grandchildren, Jessica, Natalie, Rachel, Kimberly, Heather, Zachary, Ryan, Timmy and Brandon; sixteen great-grandchildren, Isabel, Madison, Josie, Brooklyn, Greyson, Mila, Emmitt, Alison, Addison, Chloe, Autumn, Bella, Michael, Gavin, Angeline, and Savannah and one great-grandson due in May; brothers, Donald Hahn and Roger (Patty) Hahn, both of Davenport.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Doris Mae Gilbert and Flora Ann Snyder.
