Floyd J. "Whitey" Mills

Floyd J. “Whitey” Mills, 82, of Bettendorf, died Sunday, September 19, 2010 at his residence.
Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Genesis Hospice.
Floyd was born April 30, 1928 in Linby, Iowa, the son of Floyd F. & Elva M. (Smothers) Mills. He was united in marriage to Marjorie J. Christy on November 25, 1948 in Queen City, Missouri.
Floyd retired in 1990 after forty years of employment at Alcoa, Riverdale Works. He was also a long-time member of the United Steelworkers Local 105.
He had enjoyed fishing and watching NASCAR racing. During the winter months, he and Marjorie would spend time in Arizona. Floyd will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Those left to honor his memory include his beloved wife, Marjorie; his daughters, Janis J. Mills of Bettendorf and Nancy J. (William) Patterson of Millstadt, Illinois; his son, Rodney J. (Mary Jo) Mills of Bettendorf; his grandchildren, Joshua and Travis Patterson, Kaitlin and Brianna Mills and Christina, Cara and Andrew Healey; his great-grandchildren, Ella and Jacob Healey; and his sister, Anna Mae Rose of Ottumwa, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
