Frances J. Johnston

Frances J. Johnston, 84, a resident of Donahue, Iowa died on Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus in Davenport, Iowa.
Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Saturday, September 2, 2006 at the Chambers Funeral Home, Eldridge, Iowa. Private family interment services will be held. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Donahue Volunteer Fire Department or to the University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center.
She was born September 6, 1921 in Davenport, the daughter of Charles & Wilhelmina (Neumann) Hansen. On December 14, 1944, she was united in marriage to Forrest E. Johnston in Davenport.
Frances was employed as a nurse’s aid at the former Mercy Hospital in Davenport for 15 years.
She enjoyed listening to gospel music and loved to care for her flower & vegetable garden. Her family, especially her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Forrest; her daughters, Irene (Terry) Morgan of St. Louis, Missouri and Linda Tilford of Hiawatha, Iowa; her sons, Steve (Linette) Johnston of Eldridge, Howard (Kathleen) Johnston of DeWitt, Iowa, Daniel Johnston of Donahue and Gary (Cecilia (Pordon)) Johnston of Davenport; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and her brother-in-law, Richard Jahn of Pleasant Valley, Iowa.
Frances was preceded in death by her grandson, Jack Lee Johnston; her sisters, Marian, Hazel & Irma; and her brothers, Donald & Sonny.
