Frederick L. Bailey, 79, of LeClaire, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf after a courageous battle with cancer and Parkinson’s disease.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 21, 2015 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and an hour before the services on Saturday. Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday in Oakridge Cemetery in West Liberty, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
Fred was born March 27, 1935 in West Liberty, Iowa, the son of Frederick & Emma (Hahn) Bailey. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Goettle on February 2, 1955 in Iowa City, Iowa.
Fred was retired from the Rock Island Railroad, the Rock Island Arsenal and the Pleasant Valley School District. He was formally a member of the Davenport Moose Lodge, the LeClaire Civic Club and the LeClaire Volunteer Fire Department.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, looking at fall leaves, attending concerts and family get-togethers.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife of sixty years, Marilyn; his daughters and sons-in-law, Diana & Michael Bollaert of Moline, Illinois, Candy & Juan Briones of Morehead, Kentucky and April & Paul Patterson of Waukegan, Illinois; his son, Brad Bailey of Moscow, Iowa; his grandchildren, Laura & Sara Bollaert, Nathan Shaner, Brian & Nicole Bailey and Erica Bailey-Lange; his great-grandchildren, Jade Jones & Mason Maxey; his sister, Paulette Salladay of Washington, Iowa; his brother and sister-in-law, Gary & Barbara Bailey of Kennewick, Washington; his sister-in-law, Clydean Hendley of Davenport; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Theresa; his grandson, Benjamin Bollaert; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Norma (Marvin) Finucan, Nola (John) Krogman, Darlene (Leonard) Millage, Maxine (Ivan) Young, Shirley (George) Schneider, JoAnne (Gene) Weig, Sandra (Loren) Lindhorst and Frank Salladay; and his brother, Dennis Bailey.
