Frederick Couturier, 90, a resident of Bettendorf, died Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, March 27, 2006 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Davenport. Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Sunday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf
A rosary will be recited at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Frederick was born November 6, 1915 in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Roy & Helen (Linndecker) Couturier. He joined the United States Air Force on May 26, 1941 and was honorably discharged on December 5, 1945. During his service he earned the American Defense Service Medal, the American Theater Service Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Medal and three overseas service bars.
He was united in marriage to Eileen A. Dolan on June 6, 1946 in Toledo. They moved to the Quad-Cities in January 1962 where he was employed at the Rock Island Arsenal for 40 years. Eileen preceded him in death on June 19, 1998 after 52 years of marriage.
Fred enjoyed gardening and traveling.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughter, Barbara Couturier, of Davenport; his sisters, Corene, of Toledo, Marie, of Malibu, California, and Pat, of Toledo; and his brother, Alfred of Toledo.
