Gary Johannsen

Gary E. Johannsen, 73, of New Liberty, died Thursday, October 23, 2014 in Walcott.

Private family services will be held at a later date.  Memorials may be made to the Maysville Volunteer Fire Department or to the family.

Gary was born June 29, 1941 in Davenport, the son of Elmer C. & Irene M. (Knutsen) Johannsen.  He served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1966.

He was employed as a truck driver for many years with Twin States and had also worked for the Iowa state garage.  He enjoyed reading and fishing.

Those left to honor his memory include his sister, Loretta (Tom) Phillips of Maysville; his brother, Dean (Michele) Johannsen of Blue Grass; and several nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents.
