Gene Belding, 88, of Marshalltown, Iowa, formerly of Davenport, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2019 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday at the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend should meet at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf at 11:00 a.m. on Friday morning. Memorials may be directed to NAMI Greater Mississippi Valley or to the Disabled American Veterans.
Gene was born in Industry, Illinois on July 23, 1930, the son of Lee and Eva (Hale) Belding. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. Gene worked the majority of his life in Des Moines, but retired as a machine operator from J.I. Case in Burlington.
Those left to honor his memory are two nieces, Linda (Roger) Adams of Davenport, Pamela (Kip) Poppe-Voges of Seattle, Washington; great-nieces, Katelyn (John Stuff) Adams of Davenport, Shayla Poppe-Voges of Washington; great-nephews, Joel and Andrew Poppe-Voges, both of Washington; and a great-great-niece, Carlene Stuff of Davenport.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Wilbert and Barbara Poppe.
