Genevieve “Jinky” Putz, 94, a resident of Davenport, died Saturday, March 21, 2015 at her home.
A graveside service celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at the Rock Island National Cemetery in Rock Island. Those wishing to attend should meet at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice.
Born on January 2, 1921 in Wayne County, Iowa, Jinky was the daughter of Brady C. and Isal (Kint) Latimer. On December 26, 1959 in Davenport, she married Eugene Putz. He preceded her in death on February 23, 2001.
Jinky worked for John Deere during World War II. She also worked for J. I. Case Co., the Italian Village Restaurant and for the Rock Island Arsenal during the Vietnam War.
Those left to honor her memory include her son, Charles Lindquist of Davenport; granddaughter, Karan Appelquist; and sisters, Bonita Thede, Darlene Nichols and Nathlee Suiter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, James; sisters, Floy and Wanda; and brothers, Keith, Kenneth, Homer and Eugene.
