George H. Beck, 85, of Bettendorf, died Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Trinity Bettendorf.
There will be no services or visitation and memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.
George was born April 17, 1927 in Utica, New York, the son Joseph & Myrtle Beck. He was united in marriage to Vivian Jean Day on September 24, 1949 in Utica.
George served in the United States Navy during World War II. He had been employed with the New York Central Railroad and spent thirty-two years in civil service. He was retired from the Rock Island Arsenal.
Following his retirement, he and Jean moved to Florida where he participated in senior softball and enjoyed fishing. In 2009, they moved back home to be close to their family.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Jean; his sons, Tom (Lory) Beck of Bettendorf and Greg Beck of LeClaire, Iowa; and his grandchildren, Megan (Tim) VanWychen, Gary Beck & Ashley Beck.
George was preceded in death by his parents; and his son, Gary Beck.
