Georgena Swayne

Georgena R. Swayne, 89, of Davenport, died Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Center in Davenport.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 3, 2011 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the services on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the family.

Georgena was born August 15, 1922 in Lansing, Iowa, the daughter of George & Ethel (Lowe) Gonyier.

She was a graduate of the nursing program at the former Mercy Hospital in Davenport and spent many years as a Licensed Nurse Practitioner. She had also been a part of the Visiting Nurses Association.

Georgena loved her family and was very much loved in return. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Good Samaritan Center and their hospice program. They would also like to thank her doctors and all her friends and their families whom have prayed for her during this time.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Patricia Swayne-Cash of Davenport; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; her nephew, Jim Gonyier of Dubuque; and her niece, Nancy Russel of Tennessee.

Georgena was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Evlyn Nykoluk; her son, George Swayne; her brother, Edward Gonyier and her son-in-law, Luther Coy Cash Sr.
