George R. Anderson

George R. Anderson, 85, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died on Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus in Davenport.
His funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, June 3, 2006 at the Freedom Christian Center, 4721 Northwest Blvd., Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made to the family. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
He was born September 25, 1920 in Augusta, Illinois, the son of Cyrus Edward & Luella (Kimble) Anderson. On October 29, 1944, he was united in marriage to Vivian D. Buss in Camp Point, Illinois.
George was employed as a machinist for the Bendix Company (later known as Litton Industries) retiring in 1987 after 36 years of service. During the war years, he worked at the former Voss Brothers Company in Davenport.
He was a devoted member of Freedom Christian Center, serving as a deacon for many years. During his leisure time, he loved to work in the yard, enjoyed camping and was an accomplished woodworker & carpenter.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Vivian; his daughter & son-in-law, Gail & Dr. John Bianco of Kent, Washington; his son & daughter-in-law, Dr. Gary & LaDonna Anderson of Bettendorf; his grandchildren, Melissa, Derek, Tony, Mario & Joseph; and his great-grandchildren, Spencer, Harper, Katlyn & Isabelle.
George was preceded in death by his sister, Lucille; and his brother, Wayne.
