George W. Jach, 84, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died on Friday, October 27, 2006 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus in Davenport.
Private family services will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, contributions in George’s memory may be made to the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements.
He was born November 4, 1921 in Hawkeye, Iowa, the son of John & Pearl (Bemiss) Jach. On June 8, 1956, he was united in marriage to Hilda A. Dennler in Elkader, Iowa.
George was the sexton & caretaker of Mt. Calvary Cemetery, retiring in 1991 after 24 years of faithful service. In earlier years, he had worked at Oakdale Cemetery in Davenport.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Hilda; his daughters, Holly Elaine Saunders of French Camp, California and Rebecca Jean Boehm of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his parents and by two brothers
