Georgia Stockwell

Georgia A. Stockwell, 72, of Bettendorf, Iowa passed away Tuesday October 1, 2013 at The University of Iowa Hospital and Clinic, Iowa City, Iowa.

Visitation will be held from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. on Monday October 7, 2013, at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf.  Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, Illinois.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Georgia was born June 12, 1941 in Little Rock, Iowa, the daughter of Jans and Etta (Frey) Kruse.  She was united in marriage to Lee F. Stockwell on August 20, 1960 in Worthington, Minnesota.

Georgia and her husband Lee owned a bakery in Pocahontas, Iowa for many years.  After her children were born she became a homemaker, and when her children were grown she worked for the City of Forest, Mississippi.  She enjoyed making crafts, antiques, collecting lambs, and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Melissa (Andy) McMahon, Bettendorf; her son, Lance (Amy) Stockwell , Bettendorf; her four grandchildren: Ashley, Erin, Addison and Garrett; and her sister Beverly (Gary) Wagner, Worthington, MN.  She was preceded in death by her husband Lee; parents; and one brother Gary Kruse.
