Georgia L. Hughes

Georgia L. Hughes, 64, of Nevada, Iowa, died Saturday, February 23, 2008 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, February 28, 2008 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport. Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
Georgia was born February 27, 1943 in Davenport, the daughter of William & Lucille (Pinard) Machalek. In earlier years she had been employed as a dietitian. She enjoyed cooking, reading and crossword puzzles.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Megan (Nathan) Mata-Hughes, of Davenport, and Shari (Donny Frantz) Cole, of Puerto Rico, her son Daryl Mears, of Puerto Rico; her sister Taina Machalek, of Rock Island, Illinois, her brother, Sid Machalek, of Rock Island, and her half-brother, Darrell Machalek, Sr., of LeClaire, Iowa.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Duane Machalek.
