Gerald Gill

Gerald D. Gill, 65, of LeClaire, Iowa died Sunday, October 16, 2011 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in LeClaire. Memorials may be made to the family.

Gerald was born December 26, 1945 in Davenport, the son of Richard & Margarite (O’Brien) Gill. He was united in marriage to Darlene F. Reep in LeClaire in 1969. She preceded him in death on August 14, 2010.

Gerald was retired from Laborers’ Local 309. He enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, dancing and hanging out with his grandkids. Gerald also had a love for old movies and music and also enjoyed playing cards and watching NASCAR.

Those left to honor his memory include his sons, Rick (Lisa) Gill of Missouri and Scott (Jennifer) Gill of LeClaire, Iowa; his grandchildren, Justin, Brandon, Dallas, Kylie and Kelsi; his sisters, Sandra Collier of LeClaire, Judy Harris of Davenport and Peggy Huckeba of Palestine, Texas; his brothers, Robert of LeClaire, Ronald and Dennis of Bettendorf and Michael of Henderson, Nevada; and many nieces, nephews and special friends.

In addition to his beloved wife, Darlene, he was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, April; and his siblings, Mary, Richard, Ted & Ernest.
