Gerald R. Seibel, 82, of LeClaire, Iowa, passed away Tuesday January 21, 2014 at his residence with his family by his side.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Friday January 24, 2014 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf, Iowa. Visitation will be held 5 PM – 7 PM Thursday January 23, 2014, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery with full military rites. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice.
Gerald was born January 24, 1931 in Bettendorf, Iowa, the son of Robert and Marie (Bohne) Seibel. On November 7, 1985 he married the love of his life and best friend Judith Ann Walsh at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Gerald worked as a carpenter and also owned “Sneaky Pete’s” in LeClaire. He was a part of the LeClaire American Legion and the Masonic Blue Lodge in LeClaire.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, racing boats, riding motorcycles, and gambling. Gerald was always happy, enjoyed every minute of his life, and walked away with no complaints.
Gerald will be remembered by his wife Judith Seibel of LeClaire; his son Marc (Jeanette) Seibel of Camanche, Iowa; his daughter Joni (Mike) Ferguson of Bettendorf; his step son Russell (Kathy) Schickling of LeClaire; his grandchildren, Allison and Madeline Seibel and Brandon, Nathan, and Abby Schickling; his great grandson Jackson Schickling; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his step son Richard Vincent Schickling.
