Gerald L. Weber, 73, of Long Grove, died Friday, June 7, 2013 at his home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services on Wednesday. Memorials may be made to Boys Town or Lakota Sioux St. Joseph’s Indian School.
Born on July 2, 1939 in Lakefield, MN, Gerald was the son of Bernhard and Geraldine (Carstensen) Weber. On June 30, 1984 in Eldridge, he married Mary Jo Cardenzana.
Gerald served his country in the United States Army, during peace time, following the conclusion of the Korean War. Gerald was the regional president and general manager for Midwest Egg Producers, a division of United Egg Producers. He retired in 1992. Gerald enjoyed reading; raced motorcycles in his younger days and he and Mary Jo raised market lambs. In high school, Gerald played the drums and was a starting pitcher for his baseball team.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Mary Jo Weber; two daughters, Brenda (Chris) Meyer of Eldridge and Marcy (Larry) Welch of DeKalb, IL; two sons, Shawn (Kelly) Meyer of Bettendorf and Seth (Phousavanh) Meyer of Washington, D.C.; five grandchildren, Brandon Meyer, Jarod Meyer, Adam Welch, Katie Welch and Josephine Meyer; a sister, Bernadine (Doug) Boyum of Waconia, MN; a brother, Terry (Francine) Weber of Ballwin, MO; a sister-in-law, Janell Weber of Edina, MN; and his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Roland Weber.
