Geraldine G. French

Geraldine G. French, 89, of Bettendorf, died Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at the Iowa Masonic Health Facility, Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, December 29, 2008 at Asbury United Methodist Church, Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Sunday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church.
Geraldine was born September 8, 1919 in Glenwood, Iowa, the daughter of Norman S. & Mariam S. (Ridgeway) Genung. She was united in marriage to John French on June 4, 1946. He preceded her in death in 1981.
Geraldine was an educator for over 40 years in various Iowa school districts. She was also a librarian in several communities before retiring in 1986. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and she had volunteered for the Bettendorf Public Library and the former St. Luke’s Hospital in Davenport.
Those left to honor her memory include her sons and daughters-in-law, John & Nancy French, of Bettendorf and James & Lori French, of Ottawa, Illinois; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
