Geraldine V. "Jerry" Kipper, 87, of Ponce de Leon, Mo., and formerly of LeClaire, Iowa, died Thursday, April 12, 2007, at her home in Ponce de Leon. Her funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2007, at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery, LeClaire. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the LeClaire Civic Club.
She was born September 23, 1919, in Monmouth, Ill., to Ivan and Betty Conn. She married James K. (Kenny) Kipper in 1939, in Kirksville, Mo. He preceded her in death on April 5, 1965.
Jerry was an "eclectic" collector and enjoyed reading western novels. A longtime resident of LeClaire, Jerry and Kenny Kipper had 10 children, their daughters, Carol L Scharff, Patricia A. Fisher, and Kathleen J. Gimm, all of LeClaire, and Gayle L. Hansen, Gibson City, Ill.; and their sons, Richard P. Kipper, of Boston, Mass., James K. Kipper Jr (deceased), Jan S. Kipper (deceased), Kurt D. Kipper, of St. Louis, Mo., Von M. Kipper, of Maricopa, Ariz., and William R. Kipper, of Highlandville, Mo.; she is also survived by 40 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; and special friends, James Collier, Debbie Essick and special daughter in law, Cheryl Kipper.
In addition to her husband and sons, her granddaughter, Tommi Jo Scharff, her parents, Betty and Ivan and her sister, Gwendolyn Cliffton, preceded her in death.
