Gerald J. Buffington

Gerald J. Buffington, 50, of Davenport, died Friday, September 29, 2006 at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park, Davenport. Memorials may be made to the family.
Gerald was born October 25, 1955 in Davenport, the son of Leslie & Patricia (Kaucher) Buffington. He was united in marriage to Cathleen T. Raple on July 26, 1980 in Davenport.
Gerald was previously employed at the Asplundh Tree Expert Company, DCS Sanitation in Columbus Junction, Iowa, and IBP in Columbus Junction. He had also been a cook at several area restaurants in earlier years.
Gerald enjoyed working with computers and electronics, WWF wrestling, and had an early interest in CB clubs. He will always be remembered as an exceptional baker and cook, making everything from scratch.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Cathleen; his parents, Patricia & Leslie Buffington, of Buffalo, Iowa; his sisters, Cindy Buffington, of Buffalo, Cheryl Honeycutt, of Davenport, and Carol Goodrick, of Buffalo; his brothers, Douglas Buffington, and his wife, Corrine, of Preemption, Illinois, Les “Butch” Buffington, and his wife, Patty, of Shenandoah, Iowa, and Joe Buffington, of Davenport; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; and his mother-in-law, Betty Lou Raple, of Davenport.
Gerald was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Robert Raple; his sister-in-law, Kimberly J.M. Raple; and his brothers-in-law, Arthur Honeycutt and Shawn Goodrick.
