Gerald L. “Jerry” Mosher, 82, a resident of Bettendorf, passed away Friday, November 3, 2017 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on February 21, 1935 in Rock Island, Jerry was the son of Wesley and Gertrude (Thompson) Mosher. He was a 1953 graduate of Rock Island High School, and served his country in the United States Army from 1957-1959. On February 6, 1965 in Davenport, he married Janet L. Koch of Elvira, Iowa.
Jerry was a professional musician, playing the accordion for 35 years, retiring in 1974. He was a member of the American Federation of Musicians Local 67 and a former member of the “Riverboaters” band that played at Marando’s in Milan, Angie’s Bridgeland in Moline, Across The Street in Davenport, and many other popular Quad City establishments. Jerry traveled extensively throughout the United States because of his music.
Among the many jobs he held, he worked at the Rock Island Arsenal, Reynold Ford Motors, The Daily Dispatch, Sexton Ford and most recently Lindquist Ford Motors.
Jerry was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, the Quad Cities Plus 60 Club and AARP. He had a great love for cars, especially Fords.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Janet. He was preceded in death by his parents.
