Gilbert A. "Nick" Nickodem

Gilbert A. “Nick” Nickodem, 81, of Davenport, Iowa, died June 6, 2006 at his residence. Funeral services were held at 11:30 A.M., Friday, June 9, 2006 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Burial was in Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Catfish Jazz Society.
Nick was born August 29, 1924 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of Anthony & Pearl Nickodem. During World War II and the Korean Conflict, he served in the United States Navy.
He was retired from Navistar International.
Nick was a music enthusiast and belonged to the Catfish Jazz Society of the Quad-Cities. He also enjoyed boats and other nautical activities.
Those left to honor his memory include his siblings, Gabriel Nikodem of Milwuakee, Wisconsin, Ralph Nikodem of Milwaukee, Delphine Larson of Placentia, California, Roger Nikodem of Milwaukee and Bernadette Brundahl of Milwaukee; his step-mother, Lucille Nikodem, of Milwaukee; and his special friends, Diana Stanek, of Davenport and Brad Baldwin, of Moline, Illinois.
Nick was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille O’Connel.
