Gladys Dilley

Gladys Fern Dilley, 92, of Riverdale, died Friday, May 18, 2012 at Trinity Bettendorf.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend can meet at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family.

Gladys was born on January 24, 1920 in Lost Nation, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Florence (Lousfield) Deppe. She married Francis Sanders. He preceded her in death in 1955. She later married Allen Dilley. He preceded her in death in 1986.

Gladys retired in 1998 as caretaker for the Annie Wittenmyer Complex, working from 1961-1999. She loved all of her children at work and at home. Gladys enjoyed bingo, dancing, singing and outings with friends and family.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Sandra Nelson of Bettendorf; her sons, Francis (Elizabeth) Sanders of Davenport and Robert (Nancy) Dilley of Nashville, TN; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; her sister, Marlo; and her brother, Fabian (Cotti) Deppe of Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her son, Don Dilley.
