Glenn E. Troxel, 81, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa was reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife, Ruby on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport, Iowa.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf. The family will greet friends from 12:30 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Genesis VNA Hospice.
He was born September 22, 1926 in Mazon, Illinois, the son of Robert John & Freda Louise (Watson) Troxel. On September 15, 1956, he was united in marriage to Ruby Mae Inez Arnold in Morris, Illinois. She preceded him in death on December 14, 2006.
Glenn was employed at the Edwards Bakery in Davenport for many years, retiring in 1989.
He was an avid model railroad enthusiast and will always be remembered for his great sense of humor. When it came to repairs, Glenn could fix just about anything.
Those left to honor his memory include his children, Mike Troxel of Arlington, Texas, Freda Merrell of Bettendorf, Glenda (Mike) Bixby of Davenport, Kim (Wally) Christenson of Bettendorf and Ron (Melissa) Troxel of Bettendorf; his grandchildren, Brandii Troxel, Mickey Troxel, Josh Troxel, Julie Martin, Amanda Merrell-Glynn, Eric Merrell, Eddie Jackson, Chrystal Turner, Nicky Jackson, Joe Fadiga and Shelby Troxel; numerous great-grandchildren; and his sister Marion Cavenaugh of Ottawa, Illinois.
In addition to his wife, Glenn was preceded in death by infant twin brothers.
