Gloria Bishop

Gloria Darlene Bishop, 88, a resident of Davenport died Monday, March 03, 2014 at UnityPoint Trinity Bettendorf.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services on Saturday. Memorials in Gloria’s name may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.

Born on February 18, 1926 in Davenport, Gloria was the daughter of Everett Clark and Amanda (Davis) Wilson. On May 7, 1944 she married Justus W. Townsend, they later divorced. She then married J.C. “Bud” Bishop on February 1, 1964 in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on May 5, 1999.

Gloria worked in the office of Kraft Foods, Inc. in Milan, IL from June 15, 1959 until her retirement on October 31, 1982.

Gloria enjoyed sewing, baking, playing cards and square dancing. She cherished her time spent with family, especially her grandsons.

Those left to honor her memory include her son, Martin (Brenda) Townsend and her daughter, Rebecca Ryan; three grandsons, Zelig Kopel, Tyler Ryan and Brad Ryan; her sister, Mary Wilson; brothers-in-law, Ted, Daniel and Vernon Bishop and sister-in-law, Leonese Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bud; brother, Dean and sisters, Gwen and Vivian.
